  • Burress posts bail, Pierce in probe (AP)

    New York Giants' Plaxico Burress arrives at Manhattan Supreme Court for arraignment on Monday, Dec. 1, 2008 in New York. Burress accidentally shot himself at a Manhattan nightclub Friday evening and was treated at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. He was released Saturday.

    It was just 10 months ago that Plaxico Burress became an instant New York sports hero after his clutch performance in the Super Bowl. But on Monday, Burress was hauled out of a police precinct in handcuffs facing two weapons charges that could send him to jail. His season and future with the Giants is in doubt.

  • NFL could rule on doping appeals Tuesday (AP)
    Atlanta Falcons defensive tackle Grady Jackson and several other players could learn on Tuesday the results of their appeals to the NFL of suspensions for a positive doping test. Angelo Wright, Jackson's agent, told The Associated Press on Monday that "We think it will be tomorrow." Wright said he is confident Jackson will continue playing, no matter the result of the appeal with NFL officials.

  • Patriots to play Bucs in London in 2009 (AP)
    The New England Patriots will play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next season at Wembley Stadium, the third straight year the NFL will stage a regular-season game in the British capital. The game will be played Oct. 25. The Bucs will be listed as the home team, giving up a game in Tampa.
